Dear BNI Friends,

We have a plaque on the sign-in desk at our meetings proudly announcing the Attraction Chapter as the best in HK last year.  We have graphs and tables charting the growth of referrals, dollars and numbers of guests.  We should be feeling pretty good about ourselves and how we are growing our businesses and networks.

But how do we stack up against the rest of the world?  An international conference recently nominated a chapter in Kent, UK as the best in the world. (Link http://www.bni-tonbridge.co.uk/images/courier200906.jpg)  They are about the same size as us (30 members), follow the same script, have access to the same training materials and are networking in exactly the same way as we are.

Last month we brought 33 guests and 105 referrals. The Tonbridge chapter had 22 guests and 295 referrals, so although we did way better than them in bringing in the resources, they are much, much more skillful in turning that into referrals and, presumably, business.

Last week one of our members mentioned she was looking for PR companies.  I rattled off 4 or 5 that are my customers.  Although she seemed happy with that, those don’t count as referrals because I haven’t actually made a warm introduction for her.  And I am not sure exactly what it is that I need to say to my contacts as an introduction.  We have done a lot of work recently on being specific in our 60 seconds about who we are looking for.  I think now we also need to be specific about what to say when we find them.

Please remember to pay this month’s breakfast fee if you have not done so already. The following breakfast fees are calculated according to the average number of meetings per month until the end of the term being 30 Sept:

For existing members: $625 (average for the period 1April – 30 Sept)
For newly joined members from 1st June: $637 (average for period 1st June to 30 Sept)
New members joining from next month: $650 (average for period 1 July to 30 Sept)

For members renewing please remember to bring a cheque to our meeting this Thursday.
